The Circle of Hellenic Academics was founded in Boston, on January 25, 2014, to provide a discipline-independent Forum for professionals of Hellenic descent in Higher Education and those active in research and its translation to industry and medicine.
The Circle is a non-profit Corporation with members academics of Hellenic descent, or professionals espousing Hellenic culture. Members are currently or have been previously employed as Faculty at an Institution of Higher Education, medicine or industry with a demonstrated record of promoting the pursuits of research, education, mentoring and excellence in their profession. Doctoral degree holders involved in advanced research in academic and non-academic institutions or corporations can become members. Members residing outside the metropolitan Boston area are also welcomed to join the Circle as members or supporting members.”
Specific activities of the Circle include:
- Organizing social and intellectual events for its members to become better acquainted with each other in informative and intellectually rewarding ways
- Sponsoring lectures and panel discussion to facilitate deeper understanding of current issues of interest to Greece and its professionals
- Networking with Hellenic graduate and undergraduate students in North America, Greece or the Diaspora, and providing advice, help and mentoring
- Establishing and managing scholarships to recognize student excellence and provide opportunities to challenging careers
- Interacting and cooperating, as appropriately, with Institutions and Organizations espousing Hellenic interests
- Fundraising for the above purposes
